Tomato Sauce
- 4 lbs. of tomatoes
- ½ of a medium onion
- 1-2 cloves of garlic
- ¼ tbsp dried basil
- ¼ tbsp salt
Directions:
Step 1: Core the tomatoes and remove any bad spots.
Step 2: Put tomatoes in a blender and blend until smooth; pour into a 3-qt or larger
stock pot.
Step 3: Turn the tomatoes on medium heat and allow them to come to a boil; they will be
pink and foamy at first.
Step 4: Simmer for 30 – 40 minutes until the foam has died down and the liquid is
thickening.
Step 5: Chop onions and garlic; add to the sauce when it’s about half as thick as desired;
add salt and basil, too.
Step 6: Continue to simmer for 1 – 2 hours until the sauce is thick and flavorful (adjust
salt/basil if desired).
Step 7: Serve and enjoy! If storing for later use, allow it to cool before transferring to a freezer-safe container.
